Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking an ICT Security Analyst to safeguard its systems and data. You will act as the first contact for security incidents, monitor threats, and work with partners to keep controls current.

The role covers cyber incident response, documentation, and ongoing security improvements across MS 365, infrastructure and networks. The ideal candidate will hold a Level 5 Cyber Security qualification or equivalent, with hands-on experience in firewalls, IDS, AV, authentication, and

Qualifications

• Level 5 Cyber Security qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience managing security technologies such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
• Strong understanding of network and operating system security.
• Excellent communication of technical risks to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive, methodical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for ICT security issues and coordinate the cyber security response.
• Deliver clear communications and customer service to all users.
• Maintain cyber security documentation and incident response procedures.
• Support ITIL change management and regular security testing.
• Provide out-of-hours support and monitoring as part of on-call arrangements.
• Support ICT team with O365 administration, infrastructure updates and network monitoring.
