Job summary

National Grid's Customer Contact Center Representative is an entry level, union-represented role offering qualified candidates the chance to join a fast-paced environment in Brooklyn. The position supports 24/7 operations and may require shifts starting after 10:00 AM, with some weekend or holiday work based on business needs.

You will handle customer inquiries, update accounts, apply payments, and assist with billing and service changes, working in a hybrid environment with remote and on-site

Qualifications

• Customer Service Experience preferred
• Must have a minimum a High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred
• Applicant must successfully pass Company supported assessment, classroom training, and meet all performance expectations, as determined by the Company.
• Ability to multitask between multiple system applications
• Strong interpersonal verbal and written skills
• Multi/bilingual candidates preferred but not limited to.

Responsibilities

• Handle emergency calls and update customer account information.
• Apply customer payments and assist customers with beginning and ending service.
• Scheduling field orders in alignment with customer expectations and assist with billing issues.
• Handle collections related concerns and assist customers with options to maintain/reinstate service.
• Provide information on products/programs and generate referrals to the appropriate department.
• Investigate and analyze customer issues to develop appropriate solutions.
• Respond to gas and electric investigations, web inquiries, email and correspondence.
• Act as First Responders’ report for work during emergencies (e.g., natural disasters).
