Job summary

SMBC Group, a leading global financial institution, is seeking a Director to lead credit underwriting and portfolio management within Credit Portfolio Management. You will oversee team performance, risk ratings, regulatory classification, and controls while driving best practices.

The role requires extensive experience in corporate credit, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to lead cross-functional collaboration with Front Office, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Audit. Hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

• Expert understanding of corporate credit risk and portfolio management.
• Deep knowledge of US lending regulations and credit governance.
• Experience leading teams of credit professionals and managers.
• Familiarity with Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors a plus.
• 10+ years of relevant experience with strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead portfolio-level credit underwriting and transaction execution.
• Oversee credit applications, annual/quarterly reviews, and monitoring reports.
• Drive consistent credit practices and governance across CPM/PMO.
• Identify and mitigate emerging credit risks across portfolios.
• Coach and develop a high-performing team of credit professionals.
