Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI is seeking a Cost Engineer to develop and expand cost knowledge and modeling tools for ground up should-cost estimates of materials, tooling, and ED&D on assigned components. You will compare supplier quotes with models to drive data‑driven negotiations and pursue cost-saving opportunities.

You will work with Purchasing and Engineering to standardize costing methods, train others, and contribute to program profitability through rigorous cost analyses and benchmarking

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or related field.
• Three years of experience as Cost Engineer or related role.
• Experience with activity-based costing, ED&D, and tooling cost estimation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve cost models for materials, tooling, and ED&D.
• Evaluate supplier quotes against estimates to support negotiations.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and drive VAVE activities.
• Collaborate with Purchasing and Engineering to optimize costs.
• Train teammates on cost estimation processes.
