Job summary

Wellmark, Inc. invites you to join its Corporate Communications team as a spring-to-summer intern. This role offers hands-on experience in planning, writing, and implementing internal and external communications across channels.

You will work with experts, publish across social media, news releases, and internal articles, and help measure performance to drive improvements. Hybrid, with in-office days in Des Moines, Iowa.

Qualifications

• Current junior or senior pursuing a related bachelor’s degree.
• Excellent writing and content creation skills with AP Style.
• Strong communication and problem-solving with attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience managing a business and/or organization’s social media channels.
• Available to work 10-20 hours/week during the academic year; 40 hours/week in summer; in-office Tue/Wed/Thu.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with leaders to align communications with objectives.
• Develop and publish communications across channels (social, news releases, internal articles).
• Research new ideas to improve communications.
• Monitor media for mentions affecting Wellmark and health care.
• Interview subject matter experts and build content.
• Collaborate with the team on holistic communications plans.
• Analyze performance metrics and create insights reports.
