Job summary

Sapphire Recruitment is seeking a Controls Engineer for a fast-growing manufacturer in Central New York. The role focuses on designing, programming, developing, and implementing custom automated manufacturing, assembly, and test equipment.

The position offers a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote), state-of-the-art facilities, and benefits including medical, dental, PTO, 401(k) match, and tuition reimbursement. Travel is minimal.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of controls/automation experience, including relevant coursework.
• Knowledge of PLC programming, ladder logic, and HMI systems.
• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and IEC electrical standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems, panels, schematics, wiring layouts, and BOMs for custom automation equipment.
• Develop electrical specifications and support control panel assembly and design improvements.
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs for automated equipment; program robotics and actuators.
• Support equipment builds, installation, testing, startup, and commissioning; troubleshoot issues.
