Job summary

VOLCANIX AUTOMATION is seeking a Technical Project Manager to drive controls and automation project delivery for a large-scale advanced energy manufacturing facility in the Northeastern United States. This role requires stepping up through controls or automation engineering into project leadership, with the ability to discuss technical topics confidently with the team and client.

Responsibilities include coordinating PLC, SCADA, and robotics streams, tracking scope and milestones, and reporting

Qualifications

• 8+ years in controls or automation engineering with project management experience.
• Experience delivering automation projects in a manufacturing setting.
• Working knowledge of Ignition Platform (SCADA), Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal), Fanuc and ABB robotics.
• Depth to manage work even if not coding daily.
• Engineering or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage controls and automation project delivery end-to-end.
• Coordinate engineers across PLC, SCADA, and robotics workstreams.
• Track scope, schedule, and milestones; report status to stakeholders.
• Remove blockers and keep cross-functional teams aligned.
• Support production launches and system commissioning activities.
• Ensure documentation, validation, and buy-off processes are followed.
• Manage resource planning across a multi-discipline controls team.
• Comfort working on-site in fast-paced production environments.
