Job summary

Pfluger Architects seeks aController to lead accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls in Austin, TX. The role partners with budget owners to scale processes as the firm grows, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.

You will oversee payroll, AR/AP, project accounting, invoicing, and month-end close, ensuring GAAP compliance and timely reporting. CPA preferred; hybrid work with three days in-office.

Qualifications

• Excellent GAAP accounting knowledge and experience in financial reporting.
• Experience overseeing payroll, AR, AP, project accounting, invoicing, and reconciliations.
• Experience with external tax advisors to ensure tax compliance.
• Advanced ERP proficiency in an AEC environment (Deltek Vision, Ajera or VantagePoint a plus).
• Strong Excel skills and ability to build complex spreadsheets.
• Architecture/Engineering/Construction and/or Project Management experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics; CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll, AR, AP, project accounting, invoicing, and reconciliations.
• Ensure GAAP compliance, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Oversee deposits and reporting of financial transactions; manage census reporting.
• Structure finance team for efficiency and accountability; align roles and workflows.
• Oversee project accounting support for PMs, including WIP, revenue recognition and accruals.
• Manage firm’s credit card procurement system and documentation.
• Maintain financial controls and coordinate audits and tax filings.
