Job summary

AARP is seeking a Program Specialist to work with staff and volunteers, developing meaningful programs and coordinating grassroots campaigns at state and national levels. You will lead projects, build community partnerships, and support advocacy efforts aligned with the organization's goals.

Responsibilities include planning, engaging diverse communities, managing relationships with partners, analyzing data for improvements, and assisting in budgeting and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field or equivalent combination of training.
• Some knowledge of state and local political, social, and human services environments is preferred.
• Comfortable working with a diverse staff and volunteers.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 software and tools; experience with social media content and AI-enabled tools is desired.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and implements assigned projects with internal and external stakeholders.
• Engages multicultural audiences and builds community partnerships to advance programs.
• Develops and sustains relationships with program participants, vendors, and partners.
• Aligns volunteer/partner interests with organizational priorities and enhances engagement.
• Collaborates on volunteer program administration; assists in recruiting, training, and evaluating volunteers; analyzes data to improve processes.
• Performs business/program operations tasks, including research, report writing, and presentations.
• Supports tracking of strategic plans and budgets; helps implement new solutions.
