Job summary

West Bend Mutual Insurance Company is expanding its Commercial Lines Underwriting team. This Underwriter I role offers hybrid work options with travel to office locations within 50 miles as needed.

The position focuses on underwriting new business, renewals, and maintaining profitable growth within the assigned territory. Ideal candidates possess 3+ years of commercial multi-line underwriting, strong analytical and communication skills, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Insurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance or related field
• Certificate in General Insurance and Associates in Underwriting program
• 3+ years of experience in commercial multi-line underwriting
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business submissions, renewals and endorsements.
• Oversee growth and profitability of an underwriting territory.
• Use internal and external data and reporting to support decision-making.
• Document underwriting files with sufficient detail and clarity.
• Provide territory performance reports and action plans to leadership.
• Collaborate with sales, claims, loss control, and agency partners.
• Mentor new associates and support training.
