Job summary

Old Second National Bank in the Chicago area seeks a Commercial Underwriter II to analyze customer financial data, spread documents, assign risk ratings, and support loan officers with renewals and portfolio management. This role performs at a higher level, underwriting a range of credits, collaborating with Relationship Managers, and ensuring compliance with lending guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area and two or more years of related experience (commercial banking, finance, credit, etc.); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Accurately completes and reviews financial spreads and covenant testing.
• Performs basic underwriting, producing thorough and accurate analytical packages that include all relevant risks, trends and industry information.
• Collaborates with Relationship Managers, to gather and compile information for annual reviews with senior management.
• Serves as department resource regarding bank policies and external regulatory requirements as they pertain to lending.
• Analyzes and assigns loan ratings to credits in bank portfolio.
• Develops a thorough understanding of bank policies and external regulatory requirements.
• Prepares and reviews monthly exception reports.
• Reviews collateral due diligence reports.
• Proactively partners with Commercial Lenders to go on joint customer calls in order to develop credit and sales skills and/or serves in a leadership role to help develop and educate less experienced analysts.
• Collaborates with lenders as necessary on preparation of customer loan presentations.
• Participate in meetings and trainings as required.
