Job summary

Nightwing in Sterling, VA is seeking a hybrid Systems Engineer / Dev Engineer / DevOps Engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines. You will collaborate with software teams to release code safely and quickly, and implement IaC, containerization, and observability practices.

The role requires a BS in CS or related field, Linux/Unix expertise, Python/Ruby/Go, and experience with AWS, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Linux/Unix administration experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Ruby, or Go and shell scripting.
• Git fluency and collaborative workflows.
• Hands-on AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes containerization and orchestration.
• Strong problem-solving, automation-first mindset, and collaboration.
• TS/SCI with polygraph required Day 1.

Responsibilities

• Provision, configure, and maintain cloud environments (AWS) and on-premises servers.
• Build, optimize, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
• Write scripts and internal tools to automate operations and integrate systems.
• Package applications in Docker containers and manage deployments with Kubernetes.
• Instrument observability using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog; set real-time alerts.
• Bridge software development and IT operations; review PRs and design fault-tolerant architectures.
• Enforce security best practices; manage secrets; scan container images for vulnerabilities.
