Job summary

Fortress Information Security is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of critical systems across AWS and on‑prem environments. The role emphasizes containerized deployments, CI/CD improvements, and secure secret management, with occasional travel to Patuxent River, MD.

You will build test environments, implement rollout strategies like canary and blue/green, and mentor teammates while supporting daytime and after-hours release activities.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years hands-on experience in a SRE/DevOps role supporting production systems.
• Production experience supporting Linux-based infrastructure on AWS and on-premises.
• Experience with deployment technologies such as Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins and Terraform.
• Excellent documentation skills for rapid onboarding.
• Experience implementing rolling upgrades (canary, blue/green).
• Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, JS).
• Ability to obtain/maintain U.S. security clearance (preferred).
• Willingness to work onsite in Patuxent River, MD up to 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Transition applications to containerized, orchestrated deployments in AWS/on-prem environments.
• Support CI/CD enhancements for various deployment strategies (Blue/Green, Canary).
• Create test environments for release testing across the lifecycle.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, cluster mgmt and configuration mgmt.
• Migrate secrets/config from Ansible Vault to Hashicorp Vault.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning during deployment.
• Handle deployments across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Monitor service level metrics and alerting, ensuring availability and performance.
• Provide technical guidance and training to team members.
