Job summary

Enlighten in Columbia, MD is seeking a highly skilled Software Security Engineer for a hybrid role. You will lead efforts to conceive, develop, and implement advanced software capabilities for computer-based systems, interfacing with customers as the main technical contact.

The ideal candidate brings extensive cloud data expertise, RMF experience, and strong design/documentation skills. This role offers a hybrid schedule with some on-site customer interactions and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• 15+ years in Systems/Software Engineering with a technical degree; 13+ with a Master’s; or 19 years with HS.
• Experience with AWS Cloud at architect level with data focus.
• Document and present solutions to customers; assist with implementations.
• Modeling and coding of database solutions.
• Proficiency with RMF process and risk management.
• Design-focused with meticulous documentation.
• Experience with streaming/batch analytics (Kafka, Spark, Flink, Storm, MapReduce, Hadoop).
• Experience with distributed NoSQL databases and search engines (Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr).
• Experience with RESTful web services and Microservices.
• Proficiency in OOP, cloud tech (AWS/Azure), Linux.
• Experience with Git, Nexus, Maven and Agile software lifecycle.
• Willing to travel 1–2 days/week; hybrid customer-site support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Architect cloud-based solutions with development, infrastructure, and governance teams.
• Design, model and prototype data states using AWS-compatible solutions.
• Help infrastructure optimize cloud processes and manage the environment.
• Analyze system needs and develop technical specifications.
• Create standards to monitor capacity and performance.
• Troubleshoot under pressure with multiple deadlines.
• Interface with customers as main technical point of contact.
• Work in a fast-paced, small business environment with a talented team.
• Other duties as assigned.
