Job summary

Referment is partnering with an established investment firm to hire a Cloud Engineer for a systems team responsible for production compute infrastructure. The role focuses on hybrid grid computing, extending on-premise capacity into major public-cloud platforms and improving how engineering teams consume cloud services.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of infrastructure or software engineering experience supporting production systems.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Strong Linux skills in a hybrid environment, including debugging network traffic across public and private links.
• Experience with Terraform or IaC practices.
• Solid grounding in cloud security fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate hybrid grid-computing infrastructure that can burst workloads into AWS, GCP and Azure.
• Improve the reliability and performance of Linux-based compute platforms and their networking.
• Develop tooling and automation that make cloud capabilities consistent and straightforward for engineering teams.
• Own cloud-platform observability and participate in an operational escalation rotation, taking incidents from triage through remediation.
• Partner with technologists to identify valuable cloud opportunities and guide adoption.
• Apply secure-by-default principles throughout platform design and delivery.
