Job summary

Referment is seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, build, and operate a hybrid grid‑computing infrastructure that bursts workloads to AWS, GCP and Azure. You will enhance Linux compute platforms, develop automation, and own observability while driving secure-by-default design across the cloud platform.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years in infrastructure or software engineering, hands-on cloud experience, and strong Linux networking skills in hybrid environments, plus Terraform expertise.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of infrastructure or software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Strong Linux skills in a hybrid environment, including debugging network traffic across public and private links.
• Experience with modern development and infrastructure-as-code practices such as Terraform.
• A solid grounding in cloud security fundamentals.
• The communication, organisation and judgement to carry technical initiatives forward.
• Desirable: Go, Python or Rust.
• Experience supporting compute-intensive platforms or distributed workloads.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate hybrid grid-computing infrastructure that can burst workloads into AWS, GCP and Azure.
• Improve the reliability and performance of Linux-based compute platforms and their networking.
• Develop tooling and automation that make cloud capabilities consistent and straightforward for engineering teams.
• Own cloud-platform observability and participate in an operational escalation rotation, taking incidents from triage through remediation.
• Partner with technologists to identify valuable cloud opportunities and guide adoption.
• Apply secure-by-default principles throughout platform design and delivery.
