Job summary

National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC) is hiring for a Platform & Infrastructure–Cloud Networking role. Hybrid work from select office locations with a focus on building resilient, secure network solutions and low-latency infrastructure for distributed systems.

The role emphasizes vulnerability management, automation, documentation, and cross-team collaboration, with on-call duties and mentoring responsibilities as part of a dynamic tech environment.

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of related experience in networking, cloud infra, systems administration, or a similar technical field.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, NTP, OSPF, BGP, VPN technologies and network security fundamentals.
• Experience with networking platforms such as Palo Alto, SonicWall, Arista, Extreme or similar.
• Linux command-line proficiency and scripting (Python/PowerShell/Java).
• Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible or similar infra automation tools.
• Understanding of cloud networking concepts and AWS exposure.
• Containers and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• HA, redundancy, load balancing, and DR concepts.

Responsibilities

• Build KPI dashboards tracking networking and application SLA performance.
• Lead design and development of low-latency infrastructure for distributed systems.
• Lead hybrid cloud network topology design and build using best practices.
• Lead design and build of containerized network topologies.
• Manage vendor relationships and drive internet connectivity strategy.
• Advise on vulnerability practices and coordinate resolutions.
• Design and automate network patching per Vulnerability Management Policy.
• Develop maintenance plans and coordinate cross-team impacts.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs and our knowledge base.
• Own a cost-control budget for public cloud resources.
• Leverage AI tools to boost productivity and problem-solving.
• Participate in on-call rotation (evenings/weekends).
• Mentor other team members as needed.
