Job summary

Colgate University is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to drive the evolution of its hybrid cloud and infrastructure services. The role focuses on designing, automating, and optimizing cloud architectures across AWS and Azure, with emphasis on reliability, security, and scalability.

You will work within ITS Services & Shared Infrastructure, collaborating on virtualization, network security, and AI‑enabled tooling while supporting enterprise projects and on‑call rotations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with AWS environments, including VPC peering, Transit Gateways, GWLB, and egress/ingress filtering.
• Demonstrated experience with Azure environments, including VNet, vWAN, GWLB, and egress/ingress filtering.
• Experience with containerization and deploying workloads in Kubernetes environments.
• Experience troubleshooting DHCP, DNS, firewalls, and VPN routing across enterprise networks.
• Familiarity with secure data transfers and cloud data warehouses (RDS, Redshift).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, administer, and optimize Colgate’s cloud and hybrid infrastructure; maintain IaC standards.
• Oversee on‑premise virtual environments (Hyper‑V), Linux/Windows servers, Aruba ClearPass, storage arrays, and network security controls.
• Research emerging AI tools and safely integrate AI into daily tasks with a security‑first mindset.
• Lead small projects and participate in larger initiatives with cross‑functional teams.
• Support change management and adapt to university initiatives while maintaining service quality.
• Provide mentorship and leadership to student workers and interns as needed.
