Job summary

Excellus BCBS in New York seeks an IT Infrastructure professional to define vision and strategy for distributed cloud platforms, enabling flexible, compatible infrastructure with security and compliance. The role covers design, tooling, and delivery across hybrid cloud environments.

The position spans Level I–IV responsibilities, from hands-on engineering to strategic advisory, emphasising automation, cost optimization, and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• 7+ cumulative years related work experience if no degree.
• Associates degree with four years of related experience; Bachelor's preferred.
• Awareness of security, compliance, and audit policies.
• Experience with design, research, and implementation in assigned technologies.
• Infrastructure operations and delivery experience essential.
• Scripting and automation experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Understanding of cloud computing infrastructure concepts.
• Knowledge of cloud and/or on-prem integration.
• Proficiency with at least three technologies: VMware/Nutanix, Windows/Linux, Azure, AWS, GCP, Terraform, Ansible, YAML, JSON, REST API.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a primary engineer for assigned technology areas.
• Maintains a highly performant and optimised infrastructure environment.
• Contributes to budget and expenditures for assigned tech areas.
• Contributes to enterprise strategy in the assigned tech area.
• Assists in the RFI/RFP process.
• Researches and implements hybrid cloud technology.
• Collaborates with business stakeholders to gather IT infrastructure requirements.
• Mentors junior engineers as applicable.
• Leads automation workflows and standardization initiatives.
