Job summary

Amazon seeks a Systems Engineer to deploy, manage, and automate large-scale Windows environments across global data center infrastructure. You will support on-premises hardware, virtualization, and networking while integrating AWS cloud services for hybrid deployments.

You'll join AIS, the AWS Infrastructure Services team, tackling complex challenges, on-call rotations, and cross-team collaboration with global engineers to improve security, reliability, and efficiency across the fleet.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Linux systems administration and/or development experience.
• 1+ years of work in at least two languages: Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby or Bash/Shell.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, manage, and support large scale Windows environments across physical data center infrastructure.
• Oversee data center construction initiatives, manage rack deployment and configuration, and support infrastructure refresh projects.
• Design and develop automation tools and scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to streamline deployment processes, improve operational efficiency, and support infrastructure management at scale.
• Leverage AWS cloud services to support hybrid infrastructure environments, bridging physical data center systems with cloud based solutions.
• Lead multiple concurrent projects focused on infrastructure optimization, security enhancements, and quality of life improvements while coordinating with cross functional stakeholders.
• Partner with internal teams including networking, software, developers, and controls engineers; communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences across global teams.
• Implement robust security measures, identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure infrastructure meets security best practices throughout system transitions.
• Participate in 24/7 on call rotation (primary and secondary, one week rotations) and maintain availability for occasional travel (approximately 25%, valid passport required)
