Job summary

Bethel Community Presbyterian Church in San Leandro, CA seeks a Director of Operations to drive organizational effectiveness across finances, facilities, HR, and technology while providing strategic leadership to staff and volunteers. The role reports to the pastors and interfaces with elders and church leaders.

This hybrid, non-exempt position requires 20+ hours per week with on-site work at least two days weekly; salary is commensurate with experience and DOE, with benefits discussed upon hire.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of admin/organizational management in nonprofit or business.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with financial reporting systems (QBO) preferred.
• Proficiency with Google Suite, Office, Squarespace, MailChimp, Zoom, Planning Center.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or similar advanced degree a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgets, financial reports, donor statements, track income/expenses, insure financial controls and compliance.
• Coordinate church facilities: Sunday services, building projects, calendars, rentals, supplies, partnerships for resilience projects.
• Shape vision and strategy with pastors, set agendas for staff meetings, support elder reports and leadership retreats.
• Manage HR operations: payroll/benefits, staff reviews, hiring/onboarding/offboarding, ensure legal compliance.
• Oversee technology and communications: listservs, Planning Center, Google Workspace, website content, privacy and security controls.
