Job summary

JB&B, now part of Trinity's Built Environment division, seeks a CFD Specialist to join a focused team and impact high-profile building projects with expert CFD modeling and clear guidance for design engineers and clients.

You'll work closely with HVAC designers as an embedded resource, translating complex results into actionable recommendations and communicating them through visuals, reports, and proposals.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or closely related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• 4+ years of CFD modeling, building simulation, or CFD used in HVAC or built environment applications.
• Deep knowledge of CFD numerical methods: turbulence modeling, mesh sensitivity, boundary conditions, solver selection.
• Hands-on experience with CFD platforms; familiarity with SimScale and/or Flovent is a plus.
• Strong understanding of HVAC fundamentals and underlying physics of heat transfer and airflow.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute CFD models using latest software to support HVAC design decisions across various building types.
• Evaluate thermal comfort; account for airflow, surface temps, radiant effects, solar gain.
• Model outdoor airflow dynamics: exhaust re-entrainment and wind effects at openings.
• Simulate dispersion of pathogens, smoke, and contaminants in occupied spaces.
• Produce clear results and actionable recommendations; create presentations and reports.
