Job summary

Vallen in Uniondale, NY is hiring a Buyer to support procurement of stock and non-stock items, manage forecasts, and coordinate with vendors to ensure on-time delivery and cost efficiency. This role emphasizes accuracy, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will handle purchase orders, supplier relationships, and KPI reporting in a hybrid work environment, contributing to improved supply chain processes and value for customers and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in procurement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform procurement activities to ensure the customer's current and anticipated demand for products and materials (stock and/or non-stock, or spot buy) are met and in alignment with Vallen's purchasing strategies.
• Review and approve assigned inventory forecasts produced by Vallen's inventory management or other ERP applications.
• Review and approve daily replenishment recommendations produced by Vallen's inventory management or other ERP applications.
• Assess existing orders to determine action for expediting or de-expediting for optimal delivery.
• Place purchase requisitions and vendor purchase orders.
• Research, assess, and make recommendations for vendors and/or specific items to ensure specifications, price, and delivery meet customer standards.
• Monitor the quality and timeliness of products and materials supplied; coordinate returns as needed.
• Negotiate and coordinate vendor returns for aging, expired, or excess inventory; coordinate other liquidation activities.
• Follow up on PO status with vendors and communicate with customers.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and customers.
• Identify opportunities for and document customer cost savings; produce KPI data.
• Follow all SOPs; adhere to LEAN practices; maintain a professional worksite.
