Job summary

University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Engineering seeks a Budget Analyst I to provide budget and financial analysis for the Dean’s office, review budgets, and perform ad hoc analyses to support decision making.

The role involves reconciling funds monthly across state, revolving, and foundation accounts, assisting with the annual operating budget, and maintaining SAP Org Management. A hybrid schedule may be available after training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field plus four (4) years of experience in budget, finance, analytics, or related work.
  • Working knowledge of general accounting practices and financial reporting.
  • Understanding of large integrated financial management systems.
  • Advanced skills in Excel or similar spreadsheet software programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to evaluate, analyze, and solve problems and make and communicate decisions in unprecedented situations.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide budget and financial analysis for the College of Engineering Dean’s office.
  • Review and analyze overall College and department budgets to aid in decision making processes.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis of financial data for dean-level decision-making.
  • Troubleshoot budget and financial commitment issues, understanding the complex requirements of each fund type and providing advice to unit leaders.
  • Reconcile and monitor financial status of college funds on a monthly basis including state, revolving, and foundation accounts.
  • Assist with the development of the annual operating budget, day-to-day operating budget, and the update and maintenance of SAP Org Management.
  • Represent interests in college and university committees and task forces.
  • Be administratively responsible to the Assistant Dean of Business and Financial Affairs,
