Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a mid-to-senior Backend Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain secure backend services supporting mobile and online banking platforms. You will collaborate with analysts, QA, frontend engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions.

The role emphasizes independent work on complex initiatives, secure coding, and continuous improvement in a hybrid work environment across multiple U.S. locations including Vienna, VA (preferred).

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Java 17+ and enterprise Java
• Solid knowledge of Spring/Spring Boot, web services, and RESTful APIs
• Experience with automated testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)
• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD tools (Maven, Docker, Jenkins, GitHub, Azure DevOps)
• Strong understanding of databases, SQL, and data integration patterns
• Experience troubleshooting distributed systems and designing scalable microservices
• Experience developing cloud-native applications, preferably on Microsoft Azure
• Effective communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure backend services and APIs for mobile, web, and enterprise systems
• Focus on performance, reliability, resiliency, and quality
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable technical solutions
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and automated tests
• Apply secure coding and data protection standards
• Troubleshoot production defects and performance bottlenecks
• Refactor code and conduct peer reviews for security and quality
• Contribute to solution design, technical documentation, and proofs-of-concept
• Support testing, deployment, and production troubleshooting
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and mentor less experienced engineers
