Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance in the United States is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and operate event-driven microservices in Java and Spring Boot. You will own APIs, work in an Agile team, and help modernize a platform moving from monoliths to microservices.

You will partner with product and underwriting domain experts, implement robust RESTful services, and contribute to testing, deployment, and production support. Hybrid role with some onsite work.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Backend Engineering experience.
• Experience in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban or XP).
• Experience with REST, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Proficiency in Java/J2EE and at least one other language (NodeJS).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support event-driven microservices in Java and Spring Boot with REST APIs.
• Own service quality end to end including testing, code reviews, and production monitoring.
• Collaborate with product owners and domain experts to translate requirements into designs.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to best practices.
• Participate in full SDLC from requirements to deployment and support.
