Job summary

Metropolitan Water District of Southern California in Los Angeles is seeking an Accountant to independently perform professional accounting work in support of financial operations. You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, maintain financial records, and assist with financial reporting and audits.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and two years' experience, with a hybrid work arrangement (in-office and remote).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration with emphasis on accounting from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience totaling six years.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, general ledger and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform core accounting transactions by preparing cost transfers, journal entries, and various payment requests; ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Reconcile and analyze accounts by researching discrepancies and validating financial data.
• Prepare, review, and maintain invoices, drawdown requests, overhead rate schedules, and components for ACFR.
• Monitor and manage accounts receivable by generating invoices and tracking collections.
• Support audits and stakeholder inquiries by gathering documentation and coordinating issue resolution.
• Contribute to cross-department projects with accurate financial analysis.
