Job summary

Amgen’s Data & Analytics team seeks a Data Scientist, Associate for Hybrid work in Thousand Oaks. The role supports commercial strategy with hands-on analytics, cross-functional collaboration, and clear communication of insights. You will build models, dashboards, and analytical workflows while growing technical and business acumen.

This early‑career data scientist will work under guidance, handling defined analyses and deliverables with no direct reports. Three days on-site is required weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative field or related discipline.
• Experience with Python and/or R for data analysis and modeling.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Spotfire) and dashboards.
• Familiarity with cloud analytics platforms (Databricks, Azure, AWS).

Responsibilities

• Develop analytical solutions to support commercial decision-making, including forecasting inputs and performance analytics.
• Apply statistical and machine-learning techniques to datasets.
• Conduct data preparation, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
• Interpret analytical results for business audiences and document methods.
• Develop dashboards and reports using Tableau or Spotfire; ensure quality control.
