Job summary

Compass Group USA in Mobile, AL seeks an Associate Accountant to support field operations and internal customer service, with hybrid work flexibility. The role emphasizes training operators on financial information and back-office systems.

You will help ensure monthly P&L accuracy, maintain internal controls, and collaborate with Accounts Payable, Treasury, and Payroll to support operations and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Accounting internship and prior customer service experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support to field operations by training operators to use and understand financial information and back-office accounting systems.
• Act as a liaison between field operations and other corporate functions such as Accounts Payable, Treasury, Capital Assets and Payroll.
• Assist with ensuring monthly profit and loss statements accurately reflect the period's results.
• Ensure accounting conforms to Group Accounting Policies and internal controls.
• Assist in meeting contract term requirements including balance sheet review and operation closures.
• Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Prepare journal entries as needed.
• Maintain day-by-day and closing checklists for all operations.
• Keep contact information up to date for field internal customers.
• Identify best practices and improve processes and efficiencies.
• Perform other accounting tasks as needed.
