Job summary

Aehr Test Systems is seeking an Assembly Technician and Technical Writer to perform the physical assembly, integration, and testing of complex electro-mechanical systems while developing and maintaining manufacturing documentation. The role bridges engineering design and production by translating complex processes into clear SOPs and assembly guides.

The position requires strong technical writing skills, hands-on assembly experience, and the ability to produce precise, standardised documentation

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electronics, Manufacturing Technology, or related field is a plus.
• 5+ years of electro-mechanical assembly or precision manufacturing experience with a proven track record of authoring technical documents, assembly manuals, or work instructions.
• Excellent written communication to clearly explain complex sequences to floor technicians.
• Proficiency with Word/Excel/PowerPoint and other related tools.
• Ability to embed clear visual aids (photos, CAD screenshots) into documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assemble complex sub-assemblies and full systems using hand tools, power tools, and precision equipment.
• Write, format, and update SOPs, manufacturing assembly instructions, and training manuals; standardize formats across documentation.
• Interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wire routing diagrams, and specifications.
• Perform wiring and cable harness work, including routing, crimping, soldering, and terminating.
• Conduct visual inspections and use metrology tools to verify first-article and production builds meet tolerances.
• Document build discrepancies, issue ECOs or redlines, and work with engineers to optimize documentation for production.
• Verify BOM part numbers and document any substitutions or inventory discrepancies.
