Job summary

Universal Language Service, Inc. seeks experienced ASL interpreters to provide in-person and remote interpreting across the South Sound/Pierce County area.

The role blends professional interpreting with operational duties like training customers, platform demonstrations, and coordinating appointments. Candidates should have 5+ years of experience, a recognized ASL certification, and strong ethics, confidentiality, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Nationally recognized ASL interpreting certification.
• Minimum five years of professional ASL interpreting experience.
• Strong expressive and receptive ASL proficiency.
• Demonstrated knowledge of professional interpreting ethics, confidentiality, and language access practices.
• Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with standard office technology and ability to learn scheduling platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, in-person ASL interpreting services for scheduled assignments at client locations.
• Provide remote interpreting services when in-person assignments are not scheduled.
• Support customer training and demonstrations on the use of scheduling platforms.
• Assist with appointment coordination and status updates with Scheduling and Operations teams.
• Recruit inactive interpreters, support outreach, and mentor student or intern interpreters.
• Perform light administrative duties and other duties as assigned.
