Job summary

The Accountant – Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable is responsible for timely, GAAP-compliant processing of vendor and customer transactions and maintaining documentation within the accounting system.

Location: Brookings, SD (Hybrid).

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or finance encouraged.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable transactions accurately and timely.
• Maintain vendor 1099 tax records and electronic payment info.
• Maintain documentation of vendor invoices and expenses.
• Process accounts receivable transactions and daily invoices.
• Perform collections as needed.
• Reconcile AR, AP, and accrual accounts monthly.
• Prepare monthly accruals and prepaid transactions.
• Prepare documentation for external auditors and tax filings.
• Prepare 1099s annually.
• Create general journal entries and ad hoc reports.
