Job summary

NewsBreak is seeking a curious, technically strong software engineer to join the Corporate Ventures and AI Operations team. You will work at the intersection of backend engineering, ML infrastructure, and revenue systems to power our ads platform, improve recommendations, and automate commission/quota tooling for the sales team.

You’ll build pipelines, surface insights, and ship production systems that turn data into decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/SE or a related field.
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and systems design.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or Go and SQL knowledge.
• Experience with data pipelines, backend services, or applied software systems.
• Exposure to distributed data processing concepts (Spark, Hive) is a plus.
• Understanding of A/B testing and experimental design principles.

Responsibilities

• Build instrumentation and monitoring for performance signals across web, app, and streams.
• Develop backend services and dashboards to track engagement and retention metrics.
• Create tooling to surface friction in the user journey and ship fixes.
• Support experimentation infrastructure for retention-focused product changes.
• Contribute to recommendation algorithms and data infrastructure with low latency pipelines.
• Help maintain data pipelines and services processing ads, events, and engagement data.
• Support sales tooling including commission and quota‑setting systems.
• Collaborate with product and content teams to ship data-driven features.
