Job summary

W. L. Gore & Associates seeks a Quality Engineer with manufacturing experience to support a Cable Assembly process, APQP activities, and FAI support for aerospace/defense products. The role includes supplier quality improvements, data-driven problem solving, and continuous improvement across plant and supplier processes.

This position can be located at a Gore facility in Elkton, MD or Newark, DE with potential for a hybrid work arrangement. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science or a comparable technical degree.
• Minimum of 5 years in product, process, or manufacturing quality across the product lifecycle, preferably in aerospace.
• Experience applying structured quality planning, risk assessment, and validation methods (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
• Knowledge of statistical methods for risk assessment, control, and decision making (DOE, Gage R&R, SPC, 5 Why, Ishikawa, 8D).
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills using statistical data.
• Ability to manage multiple products/projects in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Assure product quality across the supply chain by evaluating non-conforming material and implementing improvements.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to define fitness-for-use requirements and configurations.
• Facilitate risk assessments and ensure mitigation actions are implemented (e.g., FMEA).
• Develop and maintain test methods, inspection processes, and sampling plans.
• Support risk-based quality planning using statistical analysis.
• Provide input to statistical analysis to monitor risks and controls.
• Work with engineering and manufacturing to resolve quality issues and verify root-cause mitigation.
• Lead continuous improvement projects using data-driven problem-solving in manufacturing and supplier processes.
• Communicate quality expectations, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.
• Document quality activities and decisions within the quality system.
