Job summary

Meaden & Moore, a leading accounting, tax, advisory, and business consulting firm, seeks an Accounting Specialist in Cleveland, OH to support accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger entries. The role emphasizes accurate financial reporting and close processes.

Responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close support, and variance analysis while ensuring compliance with internal controls.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 2–4 years of experience in an accounting or finance role
• Working knowledge of accounting principles and month-end close processes
• Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, or monthly financial reports preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Process and maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions
• Prepare and post routine journal entries and perform account reconciliations
• Support month-end close activities and financial reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Monitor, investigate and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, payments, account balances, and financial results
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Assist with variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities
• Assist with audit preparation by gathering documentation and responding to requests
• Support compliance with internal controls, policies, and accounting standards
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information
• Analyze financial results and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
