Job summary

Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG) seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations for the Accident & Health Special Markets business. This role owns the period-end close, leads third-party program accounting, and partners with audit, reporting, and compliance teams.

Located in the New Orleans area with a hybrid work arrangement, the role collaborates cross-functionally, drives process improvements with program partners, and develops the accounting team to support strategic

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, audit, or related field.
• 1+ years of experience managing or supervising team members.
• Ability to travel about 15% to MGU program partners (8-10 trips annually).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and period-end close processes for Special Markets.
• Prepare and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee timely, accurate reporting and resolve discrepancies.
• Partner with third-party program partners as primary accounting contact.
• Manage monthly data submissions and respond to inquiries.
• Lead audits and due diligence efforts with compliance teams.
• Prepare quarterly/annual reporting as needed.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff (Accountant I & II).
• Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development planning.
