Job summary

Aera Therapeutics in Cambridge, MA is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the general ledger, monthly close, and financial reporting. You will ensure accurate processing and timely close in a hybrid Cambridge office, reporting to the Director of Finance and Accounting.

The role entails journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, audit support, and SOX controls, with collaboration across the finance team to optimize processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with 5+ years of technical accounting experience
• NetSuite experience (or other ERP), & ADP WFN experience preferred
• CPA License Preferred

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly and quarterly close process; prepare journal entries, accrual schedules, and account reconciliations as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Maintain the general ledger and subledgers, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely
• Assist with preparation of internal and external financial reporting and supporting schedules along with tie-outs of the financial statements
• Analyze and provide commentary on the balance sheet and income statement variances
• Assist with the preparation of monthly and ad-hoc reporting for senior management
• Support tracking of CRO/CMO contracts, purchase orders, and spending against budget
• Prepare audit support schedules and respond to auditor requests
• Assist with the implementation of SOX controls documentation, testing, and compliance efforts
• Support Finance team with ad hoc projects and participate in finance discussions and monthly close meetings
• Collaborate with other finance team members to identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the day-to-day operations as well as the close process and assist with the implementation of such recommendations
