Job summary

Type One Energy in Knoxville, TN is looking for an Accountant II to support core accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, and SOX readiness as the company scales toward public-company readiness.

You will prepare and analyze records, maintain reconciliations, and ensure GAAP compliance while collaborating with Finance, FP&A, Payroll, Procurement, and Operations in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience supporting month-end close and GL activities.
• Knowledge of reconciliations, accrual accounting, and financial statement preparation.
• Understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance concepts.
• Experience supporting external audits; proficiency with NetSuite and financial reporting tools.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Month-End Close & Core Accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Assist with reporting, audits, and SOX readiness.
• Improve processes and partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Payroll, Procurement, and Operations.
