Job summary

University of Michigan is seeking an Academic Advisor/Counselor at UM-Flint in a hybrid, full-time capacity. You will manage an assigned student caseload, advise on degree requirements, and support retention and outreach initiatives across the College of Arts, Sciences, & Education.

The role reports to the CASE Director of Student Services and requires a bachelor’s degree with experience in academic advising and data-driven program assessment. A master’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related profession or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two or more years of relevant experience working with students in an academic setting.
• Understanding of data assessment and quality improvement techniques.

Responsibilities

• 65% Student Interaction/Advising: advise on course selection, schedules, and degree plans; manage caseload.
• 10% Planning and Assessment: use data management to support retention and outreach programs.
• 15% Recruitment: participate in prospective-student recruitment and refer students to resources; maintain campus relationships.
• 10% Advising Support and Collaboration: coordinate with departmental advisors and Student Success Center; attend orientation sessions.
