Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Hy-Chi Department Clerk to support a fast-paced, customer-focused dining area. You will take orders, prepare and replenish products, and keep the Hy-Chi department organized and welcoming.

You’ll interact with customers, help ensure freshness and quality, and contribute to smooth day-to-day operations in a busy grocery setting. The role emphasizes friendly service, accuracy in order handling, sanitation, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Up to six months of similar or related experience; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer with a smile, taking orders at the Hy-Chi counter, and assisting them with their needs throughout the store.
• Review orders for the day and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand by developing or following a production list.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish product as necessary and pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking.
• Review the status and appearance of food for freshness and maintain quality standards throughout the shift.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change as applicable.
• Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe at all times.
• Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary.
• Order product and supplies and price product for customers as needed.
• Answer the phone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking customer orders.
• Follow Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all department and company guidelines.
• Pitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come up.
