Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc. is seeking a Hy-Chi Department Clerk to deliver friendly customer service, take orders at the Hy-Chi counter, and help maintain a clean, organized department environment.

You will review orders, prepare and replenish products, and ensure freshness and quality throughout each shift while working in a fast-paced Hy-Chi department in-store. Training is provided, and you’ll join a team that values helpful service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math and record transactions accurately.
• Good communication with customers and team members.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer with a smile, taking orders at the Hy-Chi counter, and assisting them with their needs throughout the store.
• Review orders for the day and ensure an adequate food supply is ready and on hand by developing or following a production list.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish product as necessary and pull product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for cooking.
• Review the status and appearance of food for freshness and maintain quality standards throughout the shift.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Run the department register, receive payment, and make change as applicable.
• Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe at all times.
• Remove trash in a timely manner and wash dishes as necessary.
• Order product and supplies and price product for customers as needed.
• Answer the phone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking customer orders.
• Follow Hy‑Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and all department and company guidelines.
• Pitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come up.
