Job summary

Hy-Vee’s Hy-Chi Department is hiring a Department Clerk to deliver friendly service, take orders, and keep the counter and cooler stocked. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring quality and timely product preparation while following safety standards.

Training is provided; prior experience isn’t required. You’ll greet customers, manage orders, handle payments, and help maintain a clean, organized Hy-Chi area and store-wide standards.

Qualifications

• No extensive experience required; training provided to hit the ground running.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with accuracy.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, counting and recording.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile and take orders at the Hy-Chi counter.
• Develop or follow production lists to ensure adequate food supply.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish products and pull items from cooler/freezer.
• Maintain freshness and quality of food throughout the shift.
• Operate the department register and handle payments.
• Keep the work area clean, safe, and sanitary at all times.
