Job Title: Hy-Chi Department Cook

General Function

As an Hy-Chi Department Cook, this position is responsible for preparing various foods for the Hy-Chi department, including hot and cold cases. You will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers, Food Service Director, Hy-Chi Department Manager, Assistant Hy-Chi Department Manager, Service Managers

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
• Greet customers warmly and assist them in their shopping experience.
• Prepare wok dishes, including cleaning, heating, adding oil, cooking soups and meats, preparing vegetables and sauces, and combining ingredients.
• Place food in hot cases, monitor, and refill as needed.
• Order supplies and notify department head of needs.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Fill cold cases with fresh-made food and prepare items for the next day.
• Understand all aspects of the Hy-Chi kitchen operations.
• Adhere to personal hygiene, dress guidelines, and company policies.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Check rice and assist with customer orders when necessary.
• Support other store areas as needed.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; training provided.

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual ability to distinguish colors and see from over 20 inches to less than 20 feet.
• Perform physical activities such as balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Exposure to noise, temperature extremes, and cleaning chemicals in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.

Wok, cooking spoons, buckets, knives, cutting boards.
