Job summary

City of Sunrise is seeking a Structural Inspector to perform field inspections for conformance with the Florida Building Code and City ordinances. The role requires knowledge of HVHZ and the ability to interact with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and tenants.

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, hold applicable Florida licenses or be eligible for certification, and maintain required certifications with continuing education.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
• Proof of the highest level of completed education must be submitted as an attachment with the application.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of construction to ensure conformance with Florida Building Code and city ordinances.
• Issue correction notices and re-inspect when deficiencies are corrected.
• Enter inspection statuses in the computer after each inspection.
• Consult with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and tenants.
• Investigate complaints and take appropriate action.
• Post properties and testify at Special Magistrate hearings.
