Job summary

Northeast Community College is looking for an HVAC Instructor for its Norfolk campus, responsible for teaching HVAC technology. The ideal candidate will have an associate’s degree or higher in HVACR Technology or a related field and three years of hands-on experience in the industry.

The role includes delivering quality instruction in HVAC systems and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards. Applicants will need to demonstrate teaching capabilities during the interview process.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in HVACR installation, maintenance and repair.
• Experience in residential, commercial and industrial systems preferred.
• Must hold EPA 608 Certified, Forklift Certification, and Train‑The‑Trainer Certification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality instruction in HVACR technology.
• Support student learning and maintain curriculum aligned with industry standards.
• Document student progress and maintain accurate records.

Skills

Strong knowledge of HVACR systems

Proficiency in reading HVACR codes

Ability to troubleshoot HVACR systems

Knowledge of safety practices in HVACR trade

Effective communication of technical information

Education

Associate’s degree in HVACR Technology
