Job summary

Ambient Enterprises is seeking a VFD Specialist to support ABB HVAC VFDs, provide troubleshooting, and train the service team. The role covers on-site and remote assistance across NYC and nearby locations, including NJ, with emphasis on customer-focused solutions.

The candidate should have a technical degree and 3–5 years’ hands-on HVAC/VFD experience; an electrical license is a plus. Compensation ranges from $100,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years hands‑on HVAC or similar equipment experience involving VFDs.
• Active electrical license or equivalent experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide over-the-phone and email troubleshooting for end-users, contractors, and service teams.
• Offer onsite troubleshooting with metering equipment for VFDs and controls.
• Train service team on VFD start-ups and troubleshooting; create owner/contractor trainings.
• Develop in-house demos for engineer/customer visits.
• Assist sales with identifying the correct VFD for applications and review specs.
• Perform harmonic calculations and promote mitigation strategies.
• Identify VFD opportunities and support proactive replacement strategies with the sales team.
• Support specifying engineers as VFD subject matter expert; present at local ASHRAE meetings.
• Stay informed on rebates and industry trends; participate in local trade shows.
