Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking an HVAC technician to perform maintenance, repair and replacement on commercial systems across North America. You will diagnose issues, install and commission equipment, and ensure facilities run efficiently.

This role requires at least three years of field experience, an EPA refrigerants license, and a safe, customer-facing approach. Occasional travel (10–20%) is required, with union-based benefits and ongoing training opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
• Serve as a trusted advisor, delivering solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service.
• Provide recommendations and upsell opportunities to ensure facilities run efficiently.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
• Use vibration equipment and tools such as dial indicators for mechanical shaft alignment and troubleshooting of pumps, fans, compressors and related equipment.
• Travel to branch customers as required (10%–20%) for installation, repair and troubleshooting support.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, boilers, compressors and plumbing.
• Practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipefitting or mechanical equipment service industry.
• Ability to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
• Self‑starter with a passion to learn and apply skills on the job.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to write and communicate problem diagnosis, causes and corrective actions to customers.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly rate: $38.23 in MinScale, negotiable based on skill level per the CBA/rate sheet.
