Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking apprentices to train and perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls at client sites. You will participate in the Service Technical Academy, gaining skills that lead to recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement opportunities.

Under coaching and mentorship, you will learn to troubleshoot issues, support customer needs, and provide solutions that improve facility efficiency. A valid driver’s license is required to operate on-site equipment.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in HVAC or servicing mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and facilities management basics.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong safety mindset.

Responsibilities

How you will do it

• Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
• Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and customer needs.
• You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• You will meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

What we look for

• 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site
• Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• This position requires a valid driver’s license.

Preferred

• 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.

Pay Range: $18.86 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
