Overview

As an HVAC Apprentice at JohnsonControls, you will receive factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA) and be equipped with tools and a vehicle to perform your job at the highest standard.

Responsibilities

• Receive and complete certified training through the Service Technical Academy.
• Perform HVAC mechanical equipment and controls work on client sites.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues and customer needs.
• Keep JohnsonControls, contractors, and customers informed of job progress and issues.
• Meeting attendance requirements for required union training during the first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Prepare and provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

Qualifications

• Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
• 1+ year of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, and peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to represent JohnsonControls to customers and external contacts ethically and professionally.
• Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
• Self‑starter ability to work independently over time.
• Prioritization of safety in all forms.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: 1–2 years of trade school or college with a technical emphasis.

Pay & Benefits

This is a Bargaining Unit Position. Pay Range: $20‑30 hourly, determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
