Job summary

Johnson Controls is hiring for a mechanical HVAC service and repair role in Maryland. You will be equipped with tools to deliver high standards of service, solving building inefficiencies and advising customers on-site.

As part of the team, you will troubleshoot, perform maintenance, and respond to basic calls, while keeping all parties informed and offering quotes to support recommended solutions. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent or be enrolled in HVAC program.
• Familiarity with HVAC equipment (residential or light commercial).
• Ability to perform general building maintenance.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently.
• Current driver’s license is required.
• Willingness to supplement on‑the‑job training.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiar with HVAC applications and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical equipment service and other tasks as assigned to keep facilities running efficiently.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and resolve equipment issues; respond to basic service calls.
• Keep customers and contractors informed of progress and issues; provide recommendations and quotes.

What you will do

This is a mechanical HVAC service and repair position. We will equip you with the required tools to perform your job at the highest standard. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service

How you will do it

Probationary Employees shall perform mechanical equipment service and all other work coming under the labor agreement assigned by the Employer, limited only by their capabilities as determined by the Employer, and shall perform all assigned work under the direction of the Employer. Troubleshoot, performs maintenance, and resolve equipment issues. Responds to basic calls for service. Keeps JCI, contractors, and the customer informed of job progress and issues as needed. Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities. Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

• Familiar with HVAC related applications and use of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.…)

Preferred

• EPA Refrigeration certification a plus

This is a Bargaining Unit Position

Pay Range: $21.20 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are providedthrough a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salaryrange reflects the target compensation for this role.
